In Villafáfila,
Nana borrows a book from the Provincial Council's
library: Life and Work of Miguel Hernández. A poet until
then totally unknown to her. With the book in her hands,
the scars of her life reopen after so many years and
bleed an ink with which she tells her story piece by
piece, as if her body were an onion, where the tragedies
and miseries of all kinds are lacerating edges that cut
his vital bulb, in a kind of compliments that make the
reader empathize with his feelings and reflections from
the first page to the last.
Javier Martín
Lorenzo writes a beautiful and attractive novel, full of
human miseries, tragic experiences and reflections,
being both a hymn to life and a song of hope for social
and personal justice. Everything, in a real setting,
Villafáfila, with its people and its history, customs
and traditions, while the beautiful poems of the poet
sound in the background to the delight of those who want
to meet Nana and her onion segments.

Javier Martín
Lorenzo was born in Valladolid in 1966. A gardener by
training and profession, he works for the Hon. Valladolid
City Council as foreman of the public parks and gardens
area. After El descendimiento (2009) and El peregrino
(2021), Nana and the onions is his third publication, in
which he enters building a fictional story, in a real
setting (Villafáfila). This is a town nestled in the
middle of Tierra de Campos, which welcomed him with open
arms from the day he arrived, his work being a sincere
tribute to its people and its history, its customs and
traditions, so that it never covers itself with the dust
of oblivion
