Ms. Maria
Angelines Zamorano Alonso |
Dear neighbors,
friends and family of Villafáfila.
I cannot begin
this proclamation without devoting a few words of
thanks; firstly to Don Agapito, our priest, friend and
always close.
To the authorities
that may be here, for everything they represent.
To the previous
criers, because they set the bar very high, I don't
pretend to be up to their level but I'm going to try.
And of course...
To the Pro-Semana Santa Board, for remembering me for
this task that I accept with pride and with great
responsibility.
Pride, for what I
feel for OUR people and responsibility for all of you
who are here present and for those who are no longer
here.
Also thank them
for the will they put into keeping Holy Week so alive in
our town, that generation after generation has been
transmitted from our ancestors to today, and for the
will they put into continuing our traditions.
Some of you will
know me, some of you are even from my family and others
will wonder who I am and why I am here.
I am María Ángeles
Zamorano Alonso, for the vast majority Angelines ¨La
Farrucona¨, daughter of Juan Zamorano and María Alonso.
And I am here
because I carry OUR people in my heart.
It's been many
years since I left here, first Santander... Then
Madrid... But how wise was he who said that " Whoever remembers
never forgets" and
in my case that's the way it is... MEMORIES, MEMORIES
AND MORE MEMORIES that always bring me to the same
place, to VILLAFÁFILA.
WHAT DARE MINE, to
get up here to tell you what you know better than me!
That the Holy Week
of our town is unique, it is something that we all know,
neither better nor worse, UNIQUE!
Because that's how
each of us does it.
And every act that
is officiated here, in our little cathedral.
And every step
that we have here present.
And every
procession that parades through our streets...
You will agree
with me that each step, each image of our Holy Week has
a special meaning for each one of us.
I confess that I
am a faithful devotee of Jesus of Nazarene, of OUR
Jesus, I have his image very present since when I was a
very young girl I saw him for the first time in the
church of San Martín.
He stared at me,
and I felt fear... I admit it... But that fear
disappeared as I got older and thanks to the faith and
respect that my parents and especially my aunts made me
feel towards him.
MEMORIES, MEMORIES
AND MORE MEMORIES...
The crowded
church, the devotion, the faith, the processions that
flooded the streets, the silence and respect before the
images come to mind...
There are many
memories, I keep them with nostalgia and with great
affection.
I have lived with
them during the time that I have not been able to attend
this long-awaited appointment.
For a few years
and by my own promise, I try not to miss, because Jesus
of Nazarene and only he knows why I am here. Thanks to
him I return one more year and this time as a town
crier, an honor!
Let's continue
making it possible for our Holy Week to be unique,
participating in it, living it, feeling it and trying to
pass the baton on to the younger generations. Because it
is in his hand that this continues.
There are many
memories... but not only of them lives man...
So, let's live
the present... And what better way, than starting the
HOLY WEEK OF VILLAFÁFILA 2015.
