VILLAFÁFILA CLOTHING

The corduroy suit was widely used for agricultural work. The fur coat, the checkered blanket and the mask were very common garments.

Before the mudflats formed in winter, it was very common to use the "chancas" (madreñas) made of wood, where the usual footwear was introduced.

The use, by the woman of a certain age, of the "toquilla" gave the interested party an air of "typicality".

Some families keep the usual costume, typical of our ancestors.

The female was made up of the following garments:

1st Scarf or silk ribbon gathering the hair.

2nd Doublet with embroidered white linen sleeves. Over it was worn a velvet bodice, with embroidery.

3rd Rodao, (manteo), with a lot of flight, cloth in colors: red, yellow, etc. with pouch, same color or different. It could also be made of fine cloth, embroidered in various colors, on a black background and with sequins. On the rodao apron (apron) of silk or fine cloth embroidered on the front, covering part of the rodao on the back.

4th White cotton or thread socks making drawings.

5th Black cloth shoe embroidered on its front portion.

Typical costume for men and women

Today this clothing is hardly used anymore, for today's work clothes and garments, disappearing the air that it gave of typicality.

Its use is currently limited to some parties, carnivals, official performances, etc.

The corduroy clothing, together with the fur coat and the warm blanket, has been replaced by the wool suit, the coat.

The young man also wears jeans. The "chancas" have disappeared because the streets are not muddy as they are paved.
